A Most Memorable Meal Indeed
The most memorable meal for me is one I had once a year in childhood. There weren’t many memorable meals back then, it was more a matter of eat what was given and hope it was enough. During the summer months, we children usually ate from the fruit trees that grew down by the river (Yarra River, Warrandyte, Victoria) where we lived. Sometime in the past, presumably during the gold rush and... (posted by Hannah 44 days 15 hours ago.)

Without God There Can Be Good
I originally wrote the following as a response to an article by Peter Hitchens, brother of the late Christopher Hitchens, and his opinion article: Without God There Can be No Good, published today. If you wish to read the original article, you can find it at: www.abc.net.au/religion/articles Reply begins: I remain unconvinced. The fabric of humankind is largely woven on religion, deist... Youngness in the Dark Ages
I was telling a confidante about my childhood some years ago, and she said: 'It sounds like you grew up in a different time, more like the Dickens era than the 1950s.' I thought about that and decided it was more like the Dark Ages. There is so much we don't know as children; but that isn't why it was the Dark Ages. There is so much we can't know as children: but that isn't why it was the Dark... (posted by Hannah 191 days 23 hours ago.)

The Land of Giants and Aladdin's Cave
Hmm. I struggle with the answer. I always do when anyone asks me what is my favourite ...? And I’ve attempted to write this several times. In the end, I’ve decided I have to par it down, and down, and down. As I can’t include all the books I would like to, I’ll choose some books randomly and give some reasons what they mean to me. Books which informed my social... (posted by Hannah 226 days 23 hours ago.)

What I Love
What do I love about...? Ah, this is a loaded question. Let's start with Searchwarp since it is the actual writing assignment. I love that it is an open forum which encourages a multitude of opinions, views and ideas. When I first joined, many of the articles made me think it had a pro-religious agenda but by continuing to read, I soon realised the length and breadth of diversity welcomed. More than once I've run... (posted by Hannah 232 days 15 hours ago.)

Finding Ideas for Writing
I've written several articles on ideas for stories. I believe ideas should be the easiest part, is the easiest part, but for a very many writers it is the first and biggest stumbling block. The fact is, though, ideas are everywhere. Literally. You cannot open your eyes and avoid ideas. You cannot close your eyes and avoid ideas. You cannot wake nor sleep, eat nor drink, move or lie...
